The hottest trends to emerge this week:
Florida most popular long-haul destination for Brits
Florida is the most popular long-haul destination of the summer, with sales up 17% from 2018, according to booking data from luxury holiday specialist Kenwood Travel. The UAE grabbed second place, with bookings to Abu Dhabi in particular up 83% year on year. Thailand’s beach destinations and the Maldives also made the list of popular long-haul hotspots.
South West for holidays at home
South Western counties are the UK’s most popular staycation destinations, with Cornwall scooping the top spot followed by Devon, Dorset and Somerset, a new survey from photo printing specialist CEWE shows. York was voted favourite city, while Stonehenge topped the charts as the most loved landmark, with Scotland as the most photogenic region.
Multigenerational travel still popular
Multigenerational travel, one of the biggest travel trends of 2018, is set to continue to grow in popularity this year and beyond. The 2019 Holiday Review by Mintel found that 49% of adults are interested in taking trips with the whole family, with staycations and short-haul getaways emerging as popular options. The multigenerational travel trend can be explained by over-55s being more active and relatable to their adult children than ever before — but holidays with larger groups are also simply a more cost-effective way to travel.
