River cruise company AmaWaterways has again teamed up with IAGTO golf tour operator LGT Golf (lgtgolf.com) to operate a Concierge Golf programme in 2019, featuring Danube cruises with golf on five championship courses in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary on its 10-night cruises between Prague and Budapest, including a three-night pre- or post-stay in Prague. Seven-night voyages, playing four rounds, go between Vilshofen and Budapest. Both itineraries also operate in the reverse direction.
Courses played are: Albatross Golf Club’s Albatross Course, venue for the Czech Open; Germany’s Hartl Resort Beckenbauer Course, host of the Porsche European Open; Austria’s Diamond Country Club, host of the Lyoness Austrian Open on its Diamond Course; the Legend Course at Slovakia’s Penati Country Club, host of the Slovakian Open; and Hungarian Open venue, Budapest’s Pannonia Country Club.
The Concierge Golf programme, run by LGT Golf staff, includes pre-arranged tee times, transfers, golf trolleys, lunch in the clubhouse, club cleaning and a welcome pack with course guides, a dozen Titleist Pro V1 golf balls and a leather shoe bag. Golfers can take part in a River Cruise Order of Merit, with the three best scores in both the men’s and women’s division at the end of the year winning prizes, including a free golf tour the following year.

2. Hapag-Lloyd
German cruise line Hapag-Lloyd operates a number of cruises with golf as a theme aboard its Europa and Europa 2 ships. Among itineraries is a nine-day Lisbon to Tenerife Europa 2 cruise next October. The golf package offers rounds with a PGA pro at La Quinta Golf & Country Club on the Costa del Sol, Mazagan and Tazegzout golf courses in Morocco, Lanzarote’s Costa Teguise Golf and Anfi Tauro Golf on Gran Canaria.

3. European Waterways
European Waterways offers ‘golf plus cruise’ packages on several of its hotel barges, cruising canals and rivers in France, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Belgium and England with stops to play golf. All cruises included pre-booked tee times and transfers. They include a seven-day Southern Burgundy golf cruise aboard L’Impressionniste, including rounds on four courses.
